Work in a Replicated Case

Use Eclipse SE Locally

Work in a replicated case when you do not have access to the network on which the Eclipse SE database exists. You may also work on the case if it was published by your administrator and you do not have Eclipse SE. To review a case locally:

  1. Open the case.

To open case in Eclipse SE:

    1. When the case was published, a Publish directory was created. You will be notified that a case has been published and the location of the directory.

    2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the Publish directory and double-click on the EM! file. This will open the published case in Eclipse SE.

To open the case in the Eclipse SE Desktop Viewer:

    1. Open the folder containing the published case files.
    2. Double-click LaunchViewer.exe.
    3. Select the needed case and click Open.

  2. If the published case data/files are on a DVD or CD (or are read-only), you will be alerted to copy the files to your local drive. If this occurs, follow the onscreen prompts to select an appropriate local folder for the files. The copied files will be used for the review.

  3. Review the case and perform needed activities such as tagging, redacting, or working with transcripts.

  4. NOTE: See Limitations for details on functionality limitations.

  5. When finished, exit the case.

  6. For users working with the full program, continue with the following procedure to re-integrate your local work into the full Eclipse SE case.

Upload/Synchronize Local Documents

To re-integrate and/or synchronize your local documents with the full case:

  1. Ensure that both your local documents are accessible.

  2. Start Eclipse SE.

  3. Open the local case.

  4. Continue with step 5 or 6 as needed.

  5. NOTE: If conflicts exist between what you have done locally and the full case, your local changes will be incorporated into the case, with the possible exception of exclusive tags (see options in step 5.b).

Likewise, if you are synchronizing the full case with your local copy (step 6) and conflicts exist, your local changes will take precedence.

  6. To "check in" local changes and continue your work in Eclipse SE (not locally):

    1. Select Export Data > Replicate > Upload Local Modifications to Eclipse SE Case.

    2. In the resulting dialog box, select or clear the Upload Options depending on what you want to incorporate into the full case.

There are some limitations published cases, see Limitations.

    3. Click Start. Wait as the selected integration action takes place. The time required depends on the number of local documents and system resources.

    4. In response to the completion message, click OK.

    5. Continue reviewing documents (not locally).

  7. To synchronize your local changes with the case and also integrate changes in the case into your local copy (so that you have the most current data/documents in your local version):

    1. Select Export Data > Replicate > Upload Local Modifications and Synchronize Local Copy.

    2. In the resulting dialog box, select or clear the Upload and Download/Synchronize Options depending on what you want to incorporate into the case and download to your local copy.

    3. Click Start. Wait as the selected integration and download actions take place. The time required depends on the number of local documents and system resources.

    4. In response to the completion message, click OK.

    5. Continue reviewing documents in Eclipse SE or locally, as required.
