Manage User Sessions

Eclipse SE user sessions can be identified and monitored, which can be useful for administrative purposes. Each session represents an active user and the use of a single license.

If a user encounters a problem (for example, his or her computer shuts down unexpectedly), the corresponding license will be locked until the system timeout value (often 30 minutes or more) is reached. If all licenses are in use, the license can be unlocked to allow the user to continue working as soon as the problem is solved.1

To end a user session:

  1. Start Eclipse SE Administration and log in as a Super Administrator.

  2. Click the System Management tab.

  3. In the navigation panel, expand the System Management menu and click Manage User Sessions.

  4. In the user list, select the user whose license needs to be unlocked. (If multiple licenses need to be unlocked, select them by using Shift+click or Ctrl+click). A typical list is shown in the following figure.

  5. Click Close User Session.

  6. When finished, click Done.
