Change User Activity Status

By default, users are active, meaning they can access the Eclipse SE database to the extent their privileges and case or batch assignments allow. If needed, individual users can be marked inactive, which will prevent them from accessing the Eclipse SE database, regardless of privileges or assignments.

This function can be useful any time you want to control when certain users have access to Eclipse SE. For example, if you use contract reviewers, they can be defined as active users for a particular project or case. Once the project/case is completed, they can be made inactive. When they are rehired for a new project, they can once again be made active.

  1. If the user is to be made inactive and is logged in to Eclipse SE Administration or Desktop, tell them to log out.
  2. Start Eclipse SE Administration and log in as a Super Administrator.
  3. Click the Case Management tab.
  4. In the navigation panel, expand the User/Group Management menu and click User Management.
  5. In the left pane of the User Management workspace, click the name of the user whose status is to be changed. If multiple users need to their status changed identically, click the first user, then Shift+click or Ctrl+click additional users to choose a contiguous or non-contiguous set, respectively.
  6. Right-click the selected user and select Modify Active Status > Mark as Inactive (or Mark as Active if the user was inactive).

  7. Inform affected users of their status.
