Define or Change Group Roles and Privileges
By default, groups are added with no role specified. To understand the implications of setting or not setting a group role, see Control System Access Using Groups, Users, Roles, and Privileges.
To assign a role and privileges to a group in the Group Management workspace, you must be a Super Administrator. If you are a Case Administrator, manage group roles for your cases.
Assign a Group Role and Privileges
To assign a group role in the Group Management workspace:
- Start Eclipse SE Administration and log in as a Super Administrator.
- Click the Case Management tab.
- In the navigation panel, expand the User/Group Management menu and click Group Management.

In the left pane of the Group Management workspace, click the group for which the role is to be changed. If multiple groups have and identical role/ privileges, and the role/privileges need to change identically, click the first group, then Shift+click or Ctrl+click additional groups to choose a contiguous or non-contiguous set, respectively.
Note: You cannot change multiple groups if their settings are not identical.
- Right-click the selected group and select Modify Role and Privileges from the context menu.
- In the Modify Privileges dialog box, select the role, and privileges if needed, for the group(s), then click OK.

Change a Group's Role/Privileges
A group’s role/privileges can be changed if needed.
To change a role and privileges for a group in the Group Management workspace, you must be a Super Administrator. To change a group role in the Group Management workspace:
- Start Eclipse SE Administration and log in as a Super Administrator.
- Click the Case Management tab.
- In the navigation panel, expand the User/Group Management menu and click Group Management.

In the left pane of the Group Management workspace, complete either of the following options:
To change a group’s role or privileges:
- Right-click the group and select Modify Role and Privileges.
- Make needed changes in the Modify Privileges dialog box and click OK.
To remove a group role/privileges, right-click the group and select Clear Role and Privileges.
Remove Case/Group Role and Privileges
Case/group role and privileges that have been assigned can be changed or removed as follows:
- If a group member is working on the case, notify the user to exit the case.
- Start Eclipse SE Administration and log in as Super Administrator.
- Click the Case Management tab.
- In the navigation panel, expand the User/Group Management menu and click Group Management.
- In the left pane of the Group Management workspace, click the needed group.
- Right-click the selected case and select Clear Role and Privileges from the context menu.
