Opening Cases

The Case Management dashboard contains all your cases and this is where you open an existing case. When opened, the CaseOverview workspace displays, where you can perform searches.

If you already have a case open, it is easy to quickly switch to another case by selecting it from the Working on Case menu.

How to Open Cases

  • Do one of the following:
    • On the Case Management dashboard, select a case to open on the Case List tab and click Open Case.
    • On the Case Overview toolbar, click the arrow beside the Working on Case menu.
NOTE
In some cases, you may see a red exclamation mark beside a case which indicates an error or warning for various reasons including: the case is locked because another user is working on it, there was a problem with the case the last time legal hold was updated, or the scope of the case has changed. The red exclamation mark is also present in the list of cases on the Case Management dashboard.
  • The currently open case (if any) is closed and the selected case opened in the Case Overview workspace—see Case Overview Workspace.
