Configuring the Index Server
For instructions on how to install the archive server and initial index server simultaneously—see Configuring the Archive Server.
In this example, you are configuring two index servers; one after the other.
How to configure initial index server
- Choose between automatic or manual configuration. Manual can be easier in certain circumstances.
- Enter the IP address.
- Ensure that your credentials are correct.
- Leave This is the final Index node deselected.
-
NOTE
If your goal is to configure a system with a single Index server, select the This is the final IPRO Index Node option. This splits the index into shards that are created on the server.
If, however, your goal is to add index servers to this initial one, deselect the option. Then add the supplementary index servers, otherwise no shards will be created and ARCHIVE will not work. If you select this option, and then later change your mind and want to add index servers, you will need to manually move some of the existing shards to the new index server(s) and leave some empty shards on the original index server. Your Support Representative can assist you with this.
For a deeper discussion on the reasons behind setting up a cluster and the decisions involved, see Architecture Overview. - Click Next.
- Next you will receive a prompt to Configure Storage—see Configuring Storage.
How to configure second index server
- In a browser, enter the address for the second index node to be configured.
-
NOTE
You can add a second index node from any PC on the same network. - The wizard will open automatically, showing the initial node you set up in the previous step. Click Start Setup.
- Click Detect to find the node. Click OK.
- Ensure that your credentials for the Cluster Admin account are correct. Click Verify, then click Next.
- The wizard confirms the IP address of the machine being added. Choose the default path to the index data. You will now also select This is the final Index node. Click Next.
-
NOTE
Leave the shards per node at the default value of 4. If you expect a lot of queries to hit the server, you may want to create replicas in order to provide redundancy or high availability, and to balance the load. You can create replicas, although that will increase the amount of disk space required. - Confirm that you will not be adding more Index nodes.
- Click OK.
- Complete the configuration. Click Proceed.
