Eclipse SE Features

Desktop simplicity for document access

Case data is accessed through the Eclipse SE Desktop. Based on the privileges managed by the Super or Case Administrator, users can easily:

  • View a variety of image files (TIFF, BMP, JPG, PCX, PDF, or PNG), native, and OCR files, as well as record content, concurrently from a single interface.

  • Add document- and/or page-level tags.

  • Use custom tag rules and custom tag palettes (set up by the Eclipse SE administrator).

  • Use an advanced search to easily find case data.

  • Add redactions, markups, and highlights.

  • Add text notes and “sticky” notes.

  • Edit field data using convenient editing tools, including spell check.

  • Easily compare the field data of two records.

  • Use keyboard shortcuts for efficient tagging, field editing, and document navigation.

  • Work with case folders (Smart Folders, Private Folders, Journal, and search folders) to manage case details or find and organize specific documents.

  • Create TIFF images “on the fly.”

Language support

Eclipse SE offers full Unicode-compliant multi-language support.

IMPORTANT!Eclipse SE uses the font Arial Unicode MS for proper display of Unicode characters. If you are working in a Unicode language such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or similar languages, ensure that this font is installed.

Arial Unicode MS is supplied with a variety of Microsoft products. It can also be purchased. See Microsoft’s Web site for details, Arial Unicode MS - Version 1.01.

Document and data organization

Case documents

Eclipse SE provides several ways for administrators and users to organize documents, including:

  • Set up “Smart Folders” to organize documents by tags or categories.

  • Drag and drop documents into Private Folders for easy reference or future evaluation.

  • Create personal Journals for case notes.

Transcripts

In addition to case documents, transcripts can be imported into Eclipse SE. In Eclipse SE Desktop, Transcripts can be reviewed, searched, highlighted, annotated, and linked to specific case or external documents.

Non-discovery documents

Eclipse SE provides easy access to documents pertinent to a case that are not discovery documents. For example, exhibits, legal pleadings, interrogatories, or complaint filings.

Searching

Eclipse SE includes a powerful search capability. Search technology includes a custom-built Ipro search engine for the Ipro Database. In Eclipse SE, administrators and users can:

  • Quickly find needed documents using the Eclipse SE search function with criteria that exist in the database, such as by content in a specific field, or a specific tag or redaction category.

  • Users who prefer typing to selecting options in a dialog box can easily enter search expressions in the main Search bar. Or, the Advanced Search is an easy-to-use graphic interface for constructing complex search expressions.

  • Search transcripts or non-discovery documents that are part of your case.

  • Create folders for organizing saved searches.

Work Flexibility

Users who need to be away from the office can work offline:

  • Eclipse SE Desktop

  • Replicate - create a local, standalone instance of Eclipse SE Desktop data and files. This can be helpful if you need to review case documents when no network access exists (such as when traveling).

  • Export - create a .CSV or .DLF load file containing case field data and optionally tags, annotations, and other case details.

  • Eclipse SE Administration

  • Publish - create a standalone version of all or part of an Eclipse SE case, an Ipro Eclipse case, or data from another review program, for reviewers outside of your Eclipse SE environment.
